Long View has an immediate opening for a fulltime Excavator Operator/ Heavy Equipment Operator to join the contracting services team. This role is ideal for someone who likes the woods and likes running equipment. Long View is a place to grow your skills while contributing to the forest economy. The work will be focused on operating equipment including excavators, dozers, skid steers and other machines to support timber harvest projects along with other forestry projects such as trail building, clearing, and forestry mulching.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Operate Equipment: Operate heavy equipment, primarily an excavator, in a safe and productive manor while following the specifications and budget on each project.
- Equipment Maintenance: Be responsible for daily maintenance of equipment and minor repairs working with our Staff mechanics.
- Contracting Services needs: Many projects will have seeding, mulching, culvert installation, and handwork aspects as well.
- Small equipment/material transportation: Transport mini excavators, skid steer, attachments, and materials to project sites as needed.
Qualified applicants must:
- have a valid driver’s license
- be willing to “make hay when the sun shines
- be able to manage work to specific budgets and request change-orders when needed
- work well independently and as part of a team and be excited to learn new things
- be responsive and clear in communications and show attention to detail and organization
- be good at taking initiative, problem solving and follow through
Qualified applicants will ideally:
- have a class A CDL
- own a pickup truck, chainsaw, and basic set of tools
- have chainsaw experience, skills, and training (ideally Game of Logging)
- have basic knowledge of how to diagnose and repair equipment
Compensation & Benefits:
- 40 to 50+ hours per week with a pay range of at $25-$35 per hour depending on experience and qualifications
