Long View specializes in a logging system called "cut-to-length" (CTL) where trees are brought out of the forest already cut to the pre-specified dimensional log lengths (generally 8-20 feet) for delivery to sawmills, paper mills and other log buyers. This system is in contrast to "whole tree" logging where stems are brought full length out of the forest and cut into shorter lengths at the landing. Cut-to-length harvesting we believe to be the best approach in our area for a wide range of projects aimed at protecting soils, water resources and growing trees for the future.
Long View operates a fleet of equipment to fell, limb, process and cut trees to length and bring logs out using Forwarders. To limit excessive tracks in the forest, when trees are not easily reachable with a Harvester or Feller Buncher, we will hand-cut trees and use a skidder to pull the tree to the established skid road to be processed.
